Settling In, The first days:

We want your child to feel happy, safe and secure with us and we want our parents/guardians to feel welcomed and involved with the care that their child receives whilst at preschool.  To make sure that this is the case your key person will work with you to decide how to help your child to settle into the preschool.

We encourage you to visit with your child prior to joining when you will be shown around the preschool, where the toys are, the outside area, the toilets etc. We offer a free taster session of 1, 2 or 3 hours for your child to stay without you prior to their start.

We will encourage parents/carers to separate, where appropriate, from their child as soon as they have said goodbye, a staff   member (usually your key person) will remain with your child until they feel happy to explore the preschool independently.

We will ensure that the children in our preschool can benefit from what we as a group have to offer and feel confident and secure that their parents will return at the end of their session.

Fees

Our current fees for 0-2 yr olds are £6 per hour, or £14 for a 3 hour session, or £25 for a day, and for 2-5 yr olds are £5 per hour, or £12 for a 3 hour session, or £20 for a day.  You do not need to book in complete hours or sessions, hours can be booked as and when needed, you do not need to book regular sessions or hours. (all we require is 24 hours notice of a booking).

The fees are payable half termly, in advance for regular hours, a bill will be issued from the preschool. For extra hours or drop in sessions a bill will be issued weekly in arrears. Or you can pay as you use.  We are in receipt of the Early Years Free Entitlement to 15 hours per week free nursery education funding for three and four year olds; where funding is not received, then fees apply.  We are also able to offer 15 hours funded for some 2 year olds (terms and conditions apply).  For your child to keep their place at the setting, you must pay the fees.

We are, unfortunately, unable to offer reduced rates for illness/time off taken during term time.  Therefore if your child misses any sessions through illness, short notice you will be billed as usual.  However if you are able to give us 2 weeks or more notice of absence then we will not charge you for those sessions.

Key person

On joining Woodland Pals your child will be allocated with a key person who will be with your child until they leave preschool. If a key person changes at any time this will be in consideration of your child’s needs, the support of you (the parent/guardian) and in partner with the Manager.  The key person will be there to:

  1. Help you and your child become familiar with the preschool and feel safe and secure.
  2. Develop a bond with your child, meet their needs and help them become happy and confident to explore new things.
  3. Record your child’s progress carefully and share them with you (the parent/carer), the child and any other professionals as necessary.

Clothing:

We provide protective clothing for the children when they play with messy activities.

We encourage children to gain the skills that help them to be independent and look after themselves. These include taking themselves to the toilet and taking off, and putting on, outdoor clothes. Clothing that is easy for them to manage will help them to do this.

We ask parents/guardians to provide a bag with a change/changes of clothes to be used if needed.
